Thursdays – Saturdays @ 7:30 p.m. + Saturdays & Sundays @ 3:00 p.m. How can a simple story of a poor farm girl lost in a world of good and evil last so long? There are many stories that touch our lives and leave a lasting imprint on our childhood, and The Wizard of Oz is one of these. Written over a hundred years ago, with the first book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the stories of L. Frank Baum have been told and reinvented over and over again, transformed into books, films, musicals (new and old), parodies, collectors clubs, and favorite costumes. Bainbridge Performing Arts’ December production combines the new with the old, incorporating an imaginative twist and film elements. When asked about the staying power of The Wizard of Oz, Director Steven Fogell considers the story’s childlike simplicity, its universal themes, the triumph of good over evil, and the timeless appeal of adventure. “My greatest hope, as you watch the story come alive again on BPA’s stage, is that this year’s production will create lasting memories and new dreams for both young and old, adventurers and homebodies, and to all those with a brain, courage, and heart.”
